What were the most important
concepts you learned in this module?
As I reflect back on the
module, a few crucial ideas come to mind as being really powerful. With live
quizzes and self-paced challenges, game-based learning platforms such as
Kahoot! have the ability to dramatically improve student engagement while
making learning enjoyable and dynamic. The significance of customized and
varied evaluations was emphasized by resources such as Quizalize, which adapted
questions to suit various student skill levels and met a range of learning
requirements. The effectiveness of generating different kinds of questions,
saving time and ensuring alignment with learning outcomes, was demonstrated by
AI-driven question production using tools like Question Well. The goal of
Quizizz's Bloom's Taxonomy Higher Order Questions Generator was to foster
critical thinking abilities by generating questions that call for synthesis,
analysis, and evaluation. The module emphasized the importance of thorough
feedback processes, utilizing precise rubrics to provide specific and helpful
feedback and AI tools like ChatGPT for individualized input. Last but not
least, using AI technologies into summative evaluations, such as project-based
learning, offered a comprehensive method of measuring student performance,
considering both knowledge and the capacity to apply information in practical
contexts. My grasp of AI in ELT has grown as a result of these ideas, which offer
useful tools and techniques to improve the educational experience for students.
How did these concepts challenge your
previous understanding of English
language teaching?
These ideas introduced new
ways that I had not previously given much thought to, which severely challenged
my preconceived ideas about English language instruction. In the past, I
depended on more traditional techniques for engagement and assessment, like
traditional lectures and written tests. nevertheless the course illustrated how
students can learn more effectively and enjoyably by transforming the classroom
into a dynamic and interactive environment through the use of game-based
learning platforms like Kahoot! My generic methodology was called into question
by Quizalize's implementation of the personalized and differentiated assessment
concept, which emphasizes the significance of designing tests to fit the
various needs and skills of students. I wasn't aware that I could achieve the
level of efficiency and accuracy that powered by AI question generation tools
like Question Well offered, enabling quick generation of a variety of aligned
and varied questions. My emphasis has switched to encouraging critical thinking
and deeper comprehension as a result of the emphasis on analytical skills
provided by resources like Quizizz's Bloom's Taxonomy Higher Order Questions
Generator. In order to genuinely assist student advancement, comprehensive
feedback mechanisms—particularly those that use AI for specific
feedback—underline the significance of timely and targeted input, going beyond
general remarks. Last but not least, the incorporation of AI into project-based
learning and summative assessments demonstrated a more comprehensive method of
assessing student performance, promoting the application of information in
real-world contexts. All of these ideas increased my viewpoint and demonstrated
how AI may improve and revolutionize teaching the English language in ways I
had not before imagined.
How do you plan to apply these concepts in
your future teaching?
I want to use these ideas
in a few powerful ways when I teach in the future. In order to make classes
more dynamic and engaging, I will first use game-based learning platforms like
Kahoot! I will also use self-paced challenges and live quizzes to keep students
interested and engaged. Additionally, I'll use tools like Quizalize to design
differentiated and individualized tests, making sure that the questions are
made to fit the various needs and skill levels of my students. I will use
powered by AI question generation tools like Question Well, which will enable
me to quickly develop a variety of question types that are in line with my
learning objectives, to save time and improve the quality of my assessments. I
will create questions that promote critical thinking and a deeper comprehension
using Quizizz's Bloom's Taxonomy Higher Order Questions Generator, with an
emphasis on higher-order thinking abilities.
In addition, I will set in place comprehensive feedback structures,
using AI programs like ChatGPT to give students individualized feedback and
developing thorough checklists and rubrics to give them specific and
constructive criticism. Students will have a clearer understanding of their
areas of improvement and development as an outcome.
